Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Hitch Anti-Rattle - Anti-Rattle Clamp 2 Inch Hitch Receiver - GY88XR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a brief look at this GEN-Y anti-rattle clamp for two inch hitch receivers. This anti-rattle device is going to keep your hitch mounted accessory from rattling and swaying inside of your two inch hitch receiver. This is going to work with your ball mounts, your tow bars, and hitch mounted accessories such as your bike racks and cargo carriers. This is going to be a fast and easy installation.

You're just going to slip this clamp over your accessory shank, and then insert the shank into your two inch hitch receiver. And then you're going to tighten these bolts to prohibit movement inside of your hitch receiver. Now this clamp is made here in the USA of a durable steel construction with a black powder coated finish. It's going to help resist rust and corrosion. Again, this is for your two inch hitch receiver, but we also have the same thing for your two and a half inch hitch receiver as well.

So if that one would work better for you, I have the one for your two and a half inch hitch on the screen. Just take the item number and put it in the search field of our website and it will take you to that version. Well that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy.

Thank you for joining me..

The bracket looks good on the vehicle and works as advertised. I have zero movement on the trailer hitch after installation.

by:

Every Anti-Rattle Clamp I've tried so far has deformed and the hitch returned to rattling in the receiver. I thought the Gen-Y would be the solution, but not so much. I plan to bend the Gen-Y back into shape, then weld some stiffeners onto the clamp. Will see how that works.

by:

Nice anti rattle clamp. Was a little worried from the picture that it might be light or flimsy.. Not the case, heavy duty and worked great with the Gen-Y drop hitch.

by:

Great little device,I would have given it 5 stars if it came with black bolts, had to go to ace an spend another $3.00 for them. I received it a day ahead of time an the sales staff were great as always.

by:

Shipped and delivered quickly! Works as advertised and well built.

by:

Fits well and removes the rattle.

  • Recommended Anti-Rattle Adapters For 2-Inch Trailer Hitch
There are a couple different anti-rattle devices available to help reduce the rattle you said you are getting with your hitch on your 2002 Pilot. One adapter is the Brophy Stabilizer Clamp and U-Bolt, part # RSCP. This uses a U-bolt to slip over the hitch and a plate that holds the ball mount in place in the hitch by tightening the U-bolt. If you have a hollow ball mount you can use the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # 63232. This uses a spring and block placed inside...

  • Best Anti-Rattle Device To Keep A Bike Rack Secure In A Gen-Y Hitch
Due to the somewhat odd shape of the Gen-Y Rebel Ball Mount # GY62FR, the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 will not be able to keep a bike rack from moving around once installed. However, I do need to mention that Gen-Y does not recommend using non-Gen-Y accessories in the Rebel. With that being said, the Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-305 can be used with bike racks, cargo carriers, and other accessories that are not Gen-Y products. The design of this shank will also not...

  • Recommendation to Take Out Play in Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System
We do have a variety of anti-rattle devices that you can use with the Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution. I recommend using the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # GY88XR because it uses a wedge to take up the slack as opposed to clamping the shank against the receiver. I reached out to my contact at Gen-Y who said that this is an excellent option for weight distribution systems. For a hitch pin that is an upgrade to the pin and clip that comes with the SwayPro I recommend the Locking Hitch Pin...

  • Is it Okay for Ball Mount to Move in Trailer Hitch Receiver Some
What you are describing is actually pretty normal for a ball mount. There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount (or accessory) being installed which is why there are a variety of anti-rattle devices out there. Some accessories and ball mounts come with them built-in but if you have a standard ball mount there are aftermarket anti-rattle devices you can use. Technically the tolerance you have is fine but if you want to get rid of it we do have...

  • Anti-Rattle Device for 2-1/2 Inch to 2 Inch Sleeve When Used with a Weight Distribution System
I do have an option for you but the Blue Ox Hitch Receiver Immobilizer III part # BX88312 is the only device we have that will stabilize the reducer sleeve. If this will not work for you due to the position of the safety chain loops then the only other option, I would have is a wedge for the 2" shank, the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # GY88XR. Unfortunately, we would not have anything to help stabilize the 2-1/2" to 2" sleeve inside the receiver tube. The best option we have for you would...

  • Availability of 2 Hitch Extender Shorter Than 7
The Brophy 7" Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers # HE06 is the shortest hitch extender that's available. Please note that the overall weight capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50% and this will increase the amount of play you see from the accessory you plan on installing in this extender. I recommend using a combination of the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # GY88XR and the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 to help secure the extender to your trailer hitch and...

  • Lock and Anti-Rattle Device That Can be Used with Solid Shank
While you can both lock your accessory or ball mount as well as use an anti-rattle device, there isn't an option for a single device that will do both. For a solid shank what I recommend is using a simple hitch receiver lock, the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 with the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # GY88XR, both of which are for 2" trailer hitches. These are also available if you have a 1-1/4" hitch (Lock # e98879, Clamp # RM-061-125).

  • What Causes Oblong Hitch Pin Hole On Equal-i-zer WDH
If you are having issues with the hitch pin hole becoming oblong on the shank for the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37100ET then you need to make sure the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch is not also oblong as this would then cause that on the shank as well. If so then it will need to be replaced but your only option for this is a factory trailer hitch. The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4100 will be needed as well if you have damage on the one you have...

For your application I recommend checking out the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-504. This has a max rise/drop of 7-1/2" inches and is compatible with a 2" hitch receiver like what you have. I do recommend using the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp # GY88XR to help stabilize everything and then the InfiniteRule Hitch Lock # 34061072-D to secure your investment. Attached are some review videos for you to check out.

  • How To Fix Stripped Threads On the Hitch Pin Hole In the Shank for the Reese Eclipse 4 Bike Rack
If you have the hitch pin for the Reese Eclipse 4 Bike Rack part # 63124 engaged enough so that the cotter pin can be inserted into the other side, then this will be sufficient in order to hold the shank inside of the receiver tube. That said, the bike rack may not be as stable as it would be with full thread engagement so that is something to keep in mind. I cannot really recommend that you drill and tap the weld nut inside the shank, but you could just drill this out with a 5/8" drill...

  • Anti-Rattle Device that Can be Used when Towing a Trailer
The MaxxTow Anti-Rattle Clamp has not been tested or rated for use when towing a trailer. Because of that it should only be used for hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks or cargo carriers. So basically, since they have not tested it for towing, they can't rate it for towing and that is where that note on the product page came from. For an anti-rattle device that you can tow with and costs about the same as the MaxxTow I recommend # 63232. This will work with a ball mount that has...

  • Can a Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Be Used with a Ball Mount
An anti-rattle hitch pin will work for both hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers in addition to a ball mount with a hollow shank. However, most ball mounts have a solid shank and most anti rattle hitch pins used for bike racks are specific to that rack which is also the case for the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Bolt part 25056 which only works with Softride hitch-mounted bike racks and cargo carriers. A better option for a ball mount with a solid shank is a sleeve...

Curt Class I trailer hitch # C11406 is confirmed to fit properly on your 2016 Honda Fit. However, the hitch I recommend instead is the Draw-Tite # 24920. This hitch installs identically and has the very same capacity, but it costs less and does not have the requirement of using the support strap # 18050 which Curt specifies for maintaining the warranty on your hitch when it is used with a non-trailer load like a bike rack. I can certainly help you choose a trailer hitch and bike rack for your 2012 Scion xB. Many people choose to keep their bike racks installed on their trailer hitch all the time. What we recommend, and what is recommended by most manufacturers such as Thule, to remove the bike rack when not in use so it is not exposed to the elements more than is necessary. Keeping the rack protected from rain, dirt, debris, and the sun will help extend the life of your bike rack. Removing the rack when not...

We have just what you're looking for with the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers # GY88XR. The sleeve acts as a wedge to take out play between your hitch receiver and extender. Although it does not not require a wrench and a significant amount of force to install, like an anti-rattle bolt would, it will require you to use the included Allen tool to tighten down the two set screws on the corners. I've attached a video that explains how it works in more detail.

There isn't really a singular similar product with the same features, but you can use a cover like the etrailer Rubber Hitch Cover part # 22282 when not in use and the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2" Hitch Receivers part # GY88XR when in use.

It has 5 stacked 2" hitch receivers that can accommodate almost any hitch accessory. • Anti-Rattle and Hitch Lock Recommendation for Ball Mount with Solid Shank
Since there isn't a anti-rattle hitch lock combo that fits solid shank ball mounts you'd need to go with separate items to accomplish both. The part # GY88XR fits really tight so it would not be my first choice as it is known to be challenging. Instead, I'd use the part # e99007 which will fit much easier and work better overall as well. Then for a hitch lock you could use the part # BD580400 and you'd be set.

  • Easier to Install Anti-Rattle Device for 2 inch Hitch Accessory
The Gen-Y anti-rattle device you mentioned part # GY88XR does have a reputation as fitting really tightly. Some people report that using a hammer works for them, but I personally wouldn't want to mess with all of that. A U-bolt style anti-rattle like the part # RSCP would be an easier option that would be just as effective.

For this, I recommend using the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # 325-GH-063 between the receiver tube and sleeve and the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # GY88XR between the sleeve and ball mount.
